Antique: Work at the provincial government and other government offices, as well as classes in Antique, resumed on Thursday as the weather conditions have already improved. ‘The mayors, following the directive of Governor Paolo Everardo Javier, also issued their directives for the resumption of work in their respective municipal government employees,’ Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer III Michael Tolentino said in an interview on Thursday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the provincial government had previously suspended work and classes in Antique since November 3 due to the anticipated impact of Tropical Cyclone Tino. However, face-to-face classes have only resumed in 14 out of the 18 municipalities in the province. In-person classes remain suspended in San Jose de Buenavista, Hamtic, Tobias Fornier, and Anini-y, areas which were severely affected by the typhoon.
Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer III Michael Tolentino emphasized that the four municipalities have not yet declared the resumption of classes because of their ongoing recovery efforts. Department of Education Schools Division of Antique Information Officer Eric Cortejo noted that damage assessments are still being conducted to ensure the safety of both learners and teachers. Cortejo also mentioned that several schools continue to serve as evacuation centers.
