Manila: Globe has begun preparations for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Marce, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday and is forecast to make landfall in Northern Luzon. This preemptive action comes as the nation continues to grapple with the aftermath of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon, which have left considerable damage in their wake.
According to Philippines News Agency, Globe is closely monitoring the trajectory of the new weather system, which is expected to intensify into a typhoon in the coming days. In anticipation of possible commercial power outages, network facilities located in Marce’s projected path are being equipped with generator sets and batteries. Technical and support crews, along with necessary supplies and emergency equipment, have been strategically positioned to ensure a rapid response if required.
To aid affected communities, Globe is prepared to offer connectivity support through ‘Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi’
stations in severely impacted areas. “Our country has faced consecutive storms in recent weeks and many communities are still reeling from the impact of these successive weather events,” stated Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s chief sustainability and corporate communications officer, in a news release on Monday. “We would like to assure our customers that we are making all the necessary preparations in our network facilities as we anticipate the effects of yet another storm,” she added.
Globe has also urged communities potentially affected by Marce to stock up on essential supplies such as food, water, and medicine, and to prepare first aid kits, emergency light sources, and batteries. Residents are encouraged to charge their mobile devices in advance. Additionally, the public is advised to obtain weather updates from legitimate sources and heed warnings sent via SMS. Globe is providing free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to facilitate access to reli
able information.
