Makati: Six returning overseas Filipino workers (OFW) received livelihood assistance during the LAB for ALL Caravan, led by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, at Makati Coliseum on Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) shared in a social media post that this initiative aligns with the Marcos administration's whole-of-government effort to bring essential services closer to OFWs and their families. The post highlighted that six OFW-beneficiaries received livelihood assistance under the Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! (BPBH) program.
The BPBH program is a livelihood support package by OWWA aimed at providing returning OFWs, particularly those displaced or distressed, with financial and entrepreneurial assistance. This support is intended to help them establish small income-generating activities as they reintegrate into their communities after working abroad.
The assistance was personally awarded by the First Lady, alongside OWWA chief Patricia Yvonne Caunan and National Capital Region Director Ma. Teresa Capa. OWWA emphasized that the event underscored the government's focus on reintegration support for OFWs transitioning from overseas employment to local opportunities.
As part of its services, OWWA also set up an information booth to address OFW concerns, including memberships, benefits, scholarship programs, reintegration assistance, and other services available to migrant workers. The agency reiterated its commitment to bringing programs and services that truly care for OFWs and their families, a testament to the "OWWA Cares" promise and its goal of delivering fast, accessible, and meaningful services for every OFW.
