Camalig: Sixteen senior citizens from Camalig town in Albay province received cash incentives from the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) on Monday. In an interview, Tim Florece, head of the Camalig Public Information Office, said a total of PHP250,000 in cash incentives were distributed to the beneficiaries.
According to Philippines News Agency, one centenarian received PHP100,000 while three nonagenarians and 12 octogenarians received PHP10,000 each. Florece stated that the distribution was in accordance with Republic Act No. 11982, which amends Republic Act 10868, also known as the Centenarians Act of 2016, by enhancing the benefits available to the elderly under the law.
In a statement, Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo Jr. emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting the elderly in Camalig, noting that reaching such an advanced age is a significant milestone in a person’s life.
