Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday assured the public that its newly launched Kaagapay donations portal will provide a secure and transparent platform for sending cash assistance to families and communities affected by recent calamities.
According to Philippines News Agency, in an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian stated that the online portal was designed to make donating simpler, safer, and more direct for individuals and organizations who want to help disaster victims. Gatchalian emphasized the importance of preventing scams, explaining that the Kaagapay portal was created to safeguard well-meaning donors from fraudulent activities. He urged potential donors to visit the DSWD website to access the portal link.
Gatchalian clarified that donations made through the Kaagapay portal do not go to the department’s accounts. Instead, they are transferred directly to verified local government units (LGUs) or DSWD-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in humanitarian and disaster response operations. This system is accessible only to registered and licensed organizations, ensuring that donations reach their intended beneficiaries.
The platform not only prevents scams but also allows donors to remain anonymous if they wish, while ensuring their data remains secure. Donors can process cash donations via Gcash, PayMaya, and LandBank through the Kaagapay donations portal. Interested individuals can visit the portal’s website at https://kaagapay.dswd.gov.ph/home for more information.
