BUTUAN CITY: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 13 (Caraga) promptly extended assistance to 112 Caraga State University students affected by a fire in Barangay Ampayon here. The fire, which broke out at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday, destroyed several residences, including boarding houses occupied by students.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD-13 coordinated with the City Social Welfare and Development Office to ensure a comprehensive response for the fire victims. Seventeen families also received assistance, with the DSWD-13 distributing 645 family food packs. Each affected student and family were provided with five food packs.
Additional relief included hygiene, kitchen, sleeping, and family kits, as well as 20 modular tents for temporary shelter, for the displaced students. ‘The DSWD-13 is working closely with the local government to provide adequate support for those affected,’ the agency said, adding that it continues to monitor the situation and provide further assistance a
