DSWD Seeks Volunteers for Food Pack Production at Pasay City Center

Pasay city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is once again seeking volunteers to assist in the repacking of family food packs (FFPs) at its National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City. This initiative aims to bolster the agency’s efforts in preparing and stockpiling relief supplies for quick deployment during disasters or emergencies.

According to Philippines News Agency, Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao from the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) emphasized the importance of community participation in the ongoing operations at the NROC. She stated that additional volunteers are crucial for ensuring that aid is swiftly delivered to affected communities in times of need. Dumlao further invited citizens to contribute their time and effort, highlighting that such involvement significantly enhances preparedness measures.

Located along Chapel Road, Barangay 195 in Pasay City, the NROC serves as the primary hub for producing and stockpiling relief items. Individuals or groups interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact Shara Lee or Asereht Marbella by calling 0976-412-6712 or 0969-179-5117 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Alternatively, volunteers can reach out via email at [email protected].

Prospective volunteers are advised to wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes, and to bring their own bottled water and packed meals. A 30-minute briefing session will be conducted for all participants prior to deployment to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Dumlao noted the unpredictability of disasters and emergencies, stressing the necessity of maintaining a year-round readiness. She expressed gratitude for the numerous volunteers who have already contributed, acknowledging their vital role in the DSWD’s mission to keep resources readily available and closer to communities in need.
