Davao city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11 (Davao Region) announced that 14,246 family food packs have been distributed to municipalities in Davao Occidental affected by the June 8 earthquake. Jose Abad Santos (JAS) received 7,320 food packs, Don Marcelino 233, Malita 1,438, Sta. Maria 1,555, and Sarangani 3,700. Additionally, JAS received 130 family tents while Sarangani was allocated 60 tents.

According to Philippines News Agency, an extra 1,555 food packs were provided to families temporarily evacuated in Sta. Maria following a tsunami alert on June 9. Families from barangays Sto. Rosario, Basiawan, San Agustin, Ogpao, Mamacao, and Tanglad were moved to designated centers as a safety measure. After the alert was lifted, these families have since returned to their homes.

The DSWD-11 highlighted that the food distribution was part of an immediate humanitarian response to ensure displaced families had access to essential resources while residing in evacuation sites. The agency is working closely with local governments and partner organizations to continue monitoring the situation.

In addition to food distribution, DSWD-11 conducted house-to-house assessments of reported damages in Sta. Maria town, focusing on barangays including Sto. Rosario, Basiawan, San Agustin, Ogpao, and Mamacao. The purpose of these assessments was to gather crucial information for determining the necessary assistance and interventions for affected families.
