DSWD Delivers Over 1,000 Family Food Packs to Barbaza and San Remigio

Antique: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has successfully delivered family food packs to two municipalities in Antique, responding to requests from local government units (LGUs) on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Jeffrey Gabucay, the DSWD Antique Provincial Link and coordinator of the relief operation, confirmed in an interview that 1,037 family food packs were delivered to the municipalities of Barbaza and San Remigio. These deliveries are part of a broader initiative involving 17,350 food packs that have been prepositioned across various municipalities in Antique.

In preparation for Typhoon Tino, the DSWD had prepositioned family food packs to 11 LGUs, including Barbaza and San Remigio, both of which have agreements with the agency to manage these resources. Under these agreements, the LGUs are responsible for the safekeeping of the food packs to ensure they are ready for distribution in the event of a disaster. Gabucay noted that other LGUs are also welcome to request additional family food packs for their constituents affected by the typhoon.

Further assistance for affected families has been provided by the provincial government and the offices of Senator Loren Legarda and Representative Antonio Agapito Legarda. In the meantime, 98 schools across the province are being utilized as evacuation centers, currently accommodating 3,135 families or 9,486 individuals.
