TARLAC: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the completion of a significant road improvement project in Tarlac, set to benefit the local agricultural community by enhancing transport and accessibility. The project, connecting Barangay Sta. Rosa in Concepcion and Barangay Talaga in Capas, is expected to improve the mobility and accessibility for area residents.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH highlighted that the newly completed two-lane road spans 2.106 kilometers and is five meters wide. District Engineer Edward Ricardo Ramos from the DPWH-Tarlac’s 2nd District Engineering Office noted the road is paved with 200-mm-thick Portland Concrete Cement Pavement, ensuring a safe and reliable route between the two barangays.

The project, which cost PHP19.79 million and was funded under the 2024 national budget, is anticipated to significantly enhance travel efficiency for residents and motorists, while fostering community growth. Ramos emphasized the road’s potential benefits for local farmers, who will experience reduced delivery times and costs for transporting goods to markets, contributing to increased agricultural productivity in the region.

In addition to improving logistics for the agricultural sector, the road has been equipped with five solar LED streetlights. These installations aim to improve visibility during nighttime, thereby enhancing road safety and reducing the risk of accidents, according to Ramos.
