DOTr Praises Early Reopening of NLEX Marilao Lanes Following Repairs

Marilao: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) expressed gratitude to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation for the expedited reopening of all four lanes under the Marilao Interchange Bridge, completed one week ahead of the initial schedule.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DOTr highlighted that this development would help restore nearly normal travel times, enabling commuters and motorists on NLEX to enjoy more time with their families and reach their destinations promptly. The NLEX Corporation confirmed that as of 1 a.m., all lanes were accessible to vehicles.

Despite the reopening, the corporation noted that supporting steel poles would remain on the lanes to facilitate the concrete curing process of the bridge. Initially, NLEX anticipated completing the repairs by March 31, following damage caused by an oversized truck on March 19, which led to the closure of three northbound lanes of the NLEX segment in Marilao.

The DOTr emphasized the swift response and dedication of both the department and its partners, like NLEX Corp., in addressing such issues to maintain a seamless travel experience for Filipinos. Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon had previously urged NLEX to accelerate the repair work and consider waiving toll fees in the affected section due to significant traffic congestion resulting from the repairs.
