Manila: Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Thursday announced the formation of the Flagship Project Management Office (FPMO) to oversee and expedite the execution of key transportation infrastructure projects. This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and easing commuter difficulties.
According to Philippines News Agency, Department Order 2025-002 outlines that the FPMO will set policies and ensure the allocation of resources for implementing priority infrastructure flagship projects (IFPs), while also monitoring their progress. The IFPs under this office include the Metro Manila Subway Project, North-South Commuter Railway Project, EDSA Busway Project, EDSA Greenways Project, Cebu Bus Rapid Transit, and Davao Public Transport Modernization Project.
In a statement, Dizon confirmed his role as chair of the FPMO. He emphasized his commitment to personally oversee the projects, which will adhere to strict timelines. Dizon mentioned that deadlines would be imposed to ensure timely completion of these projects.
As chair, Dizon will also have the responsibility of identifying additional priority IFPs and tracking their progress relative to the established timelines. The FPMO will collaborate with various DOTr sectors, attached agencies, partner and implementing agencies, and other government departments to facilitate project execution.
Specifically, the FPMO will coordinate the implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of IFPs, while also consolidating and mobilizing DOTr’s resources to streamline and synchronize budgets for these flagship projects.
