Camiguin: The Department of Justice (DOJ) rolled out its Katarungan Caravan in Camiguin province, providing free legal services to 83 beneficiaries.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Katarungan Caravan, which was held at the Provincial Capitol on Feb. 23, was spearheaded by Undersecretary Margarita Guttierez of the DOJ Action Center, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and Land Registration Authority (LRA). The DOJ said the initiative was implemented in response to the request of Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo for free legal aid and services to the people of Camiguin.

The conduct of the Katarungan Caravan in the island-province was cascaded to its local municipalities through the officials and councils of the local barangays. The free legal services include rendering legal advice and counselling, preparation of legal documents, and government referral/endorsement to concerned government offices, among others.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that this initiative bridges the gaps between the State and the citizenry to deliver essential government services face-to-face, upholding the commitment of rendering Real Justice for All in Real Time. The success of the Katarungan Caravan was realized through the collaborative efforts of the teams of the Office of the Regional Prosecutor of Northern Mindanao, Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, volunteer lawyers from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Camiguin Chapter, and personnel of the local government.
