Manila: The Department of Health (DOH) has raised a ‘Code White Alert’ in all hospitals nationwide, indicating the highest level of preparedness to handle medical emergencies during the long weekend.
According to Philippines News Agency, Health Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo announced on “Special Report: Undas 2024,” organized by the Presidential Communications Office, that the Code White Alert will remain in effect until November 2. Domingo emphasized that hospitals’ operations centers are on standby and are coordinating with the regional and central offices of the DOH. He also advised individuals planning to visit cemeteries who are not feeling well to stay home, prioritizing their health over visits to deceased loved ones.
With the change in temperature and the onset of cold weather, Domingo noted an increase in influenza-like illnesses, which present symptom
s such as cough, runny nose, fever, and allergies. He also urged the public to ensure their food and water are free from contamination to prevent poisoning.
