DHSUD Explores Rental Housing Support Under Pambansang Pabahay Program

Manila: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is considering the provision of rental housing support to qualified beneficiaries under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program. Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling emphasized the department’s openness to various feasible modalities to enhance the inclusivity and sustainability of the 4PH initiative.

According to Philippines News Agency, Aliling stated, “We must exhaust all feasible modalities under 4PH. The more schemes available for our kababayans (fellow Filipinos), depending on the need and their capacity, the better.” Aliling highlighted that the DHSUD is actively studying the integration of rental housing as one of the modalities under the 4PH program.

The DHSUD is targeting families within the lower income deciles as potential beneficiaries of this initiative. Upon assuming his position on Monday, succeeding Jose Rizalino Acuzar, Aliling announced plans to recalibrate 4PH to include horizontal developments, akin to subdivision-like housing projects. This marks a shift from the program’s previous focus solely on vertical or condominium-type developments.

Furthermore, Raemulan Lands Inc., a prominent developer in socialized housing projects, has committed to providing 35,656 housing units within the next two years. In response, the DHSUD central office is now in the process of crafting guidelines to incorporate horizontal developments into the 4PH program.
