DHSUD and SHFC Provide Mortgage Aid to Pasig Communities

Pasig city: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) have turned over financial assistance for land acquisition to two communities in Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City. DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling stated that this initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s campaign for secure and dignified housing under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.

According to Philippines News Agency, SHFC President and Chief Executive Officer Federico Laxa assisted Secretary Aliling in the turnover of assistance under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP). This program enables beneficiary homeowners’ associations to acquire the land they currently occupy. Megaville 2 Homeowners’ Association, Inc. received over PHP14 million to secure land tenure for its 149 member families, while Villa Soledad Homeowners’ Association, Inc., with 88 members, was granted more than PHP9 million for land acquisition.

SHFC further eased the financial burden on beneficiaries by covering the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage for both associations, aligning with the ECMP’s approach to addressing barriers faced by low-income communities. Aliling emphasized that this initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to ensuring security and peace for all citizens in their homes.

Earlier visits to Megaville 2 HOA and Villa Soledad HOA were made by Aliling and Laxa in August, with the associations receiving their Certificates of Lot Award during the National Housing Expo in October, led by President Marcos. In addition, more than PHP21 million was released last week to the Centennial Sunrise Homeowners’ Association, Inc., another ECMP community in Pasig City.

These communities are among the first batch of 34 ECMP projects approved nationwide, expected to benefit over 5,800 families. Aliling expressed hopes that this assistance would make residents feel supported by the government, especially with the approaching Christmas season, highlighting the initiative as more than just a promise.
