Second District Councilor Bonz Andre Militar, who chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Information Communication Technology, announced that legislative measures are underway to secure funding for the project.
According to Philippines News Agency, Militar stated that the City Information Office is planning for the center to provide a robust Wi-Fi connection at no cost, benefiting both the center and its immediate surroundings. He emphasized that the establishment of the facility is currently in the committee phase and has received approval from Mayor Sebastian Duterte to proceed.
The City Engineer’s Office has approved the project’s design, and final cost estimates are pending. The proposed plan includes a two-floor facility with 60 computers on the upper floor and six units on the ground floor designated for persons with disabilities. Militar highlighted that thi
s center will extend the internet services currently available at the Davao City Library and Information Center.
To further accommodate residents, especially students located far from the city center, the center plans to offer an advance booking system for computer usage.
