DAR-Negros Oriental Achieves 96% Land Distribution Milestone

Negros oriental: The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Oriental has successfully distributed approximately 96% of government land to beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), a department official announced.

According to Philippines News Agency, DAR-Negros Oriental chief Manuel Galon highlighted that this achievement encompasses the issuance of individual land titles through Project SPLIT (Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling). “Under our land transfer program, our total scope in Negros Oriental is some 130,000 hectares of government land and our total balance now is at 2,600 hectares,” Galon stated.

The land distribution initiative started in 1972 during the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., signaling the beginning of the land reform program. Initially, land parcels were allocated through a Collective Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CCLOA) to eligible beneficiaries. Over time, these beneficiaries have begun receiving individual land titles.

Galon urged beneficiaries to ensure they apply and undergo validation by DAR to benefit from the land reform program. He emphasized that not every applicant qualifies for the government’s land distribution initiative.

Currently, around 2,000 individual land titles are awaiting processing at the Registry of Deeds. The DAR aims to finalize the distribution within the next two years.
