Bani: A PHP9.6 million worth of road project made access and travel to Busay Falls, one of the major tourist attractions in Bani town in Pangasinan, easier and smoother. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the access road to Busay Calabeng Falls, funded through the Convergence and Special Support Program-Construction/Improvement of Access Roads Leading to Declared Tourism Destinations.
According to Philippines News Agency, the project was implemented under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP). The 0.96-kilometer access road is designed to provide safer, faster, and more convenient travel for both tourists and residents, as stated by DPWH Ilocos Region information officer Esperanza Tinaza. Construction began in March and was completed on May 12 this year.
The scope of construction works covered a series of activities aimed at ensuring durability and quality of the roadway. These activities included embankment using borrow material, polymer-stabilized base course application, concreting of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) carriageway, and aggregate base course on the shoulder.
The project is expected to boost local tourism, enhance mobility, and stimulate the socio-economic development of the community. Pangasinan Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office data show tourist arrivals in Bani town in 2024 was at 98,239 for day tourists and 29,461 for overnight tourists.
