Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Wednesday that the ongoing voter registration activities across the country will be temporarily suspended for four days in observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days this weekend. The suspension will commence at 12 noon on Oct. 30 and continue through Nov. 2.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Comelec has emphasized the importance of this period as a time to remember and honor the departed. The commission stated, “Along with the entire nation, we honor the memory of those who have passed away. Through prayer, dedication, and contemplation, we keep their spirits alive in our hearts. May their souls find peace and light.”
During the registration period from Oct. 20 to 26, Comelec reported receiving a total of 144,907 applications for registration. Additionally, there were 55,731 applications for transfer from other cities or municipalities, 10,467 applications for transfer within the same city or municipality, and 7,916 applications for reactivation.
The voter registration process, which resumed on Oct. 20, is scheduled to continue until May 18, 2026.
