Marawi city: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday proclaimed five of the nine winning parliamentary district representative candidates in Lanao del Sur for the September 14 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE). Lawyer Mohammad Nabil Mutia, Lanao del Sur election supervisor, stated that this proclamation was based on 97.79 percent of the BPE election returns canvassed in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
According to Philippines News Agency, the proclaimed winners include Hamza Gauraki (UBJP), representing Lanao Sur's second district, 4th District Rep. Lampa Pandi (UBJP), 6th District Rep. Hosni Macapodi (SIAP), 7th District Rep. Rayyan Mindalano (SIAP), and 8th District Rep. Ahmad Amir Balindong (UBJP). Mutia indicated that once canvassing is complete, the provincial board of canvassers will announce the four remaining winners in the parliamentary district contests in Lanao del Sur.
The canvassing process is taking place at the provincial capitol of Lanao del Sur in Marawi City. Mutia expressed gratitude towards the security forces, local government officials, poll officials, and all stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful and successful election process in Lanao del Sur. He mentioned that there were minor incidents during the elections, but they did not impact the overall conduct, marking this BPE as the most peaceful balloting in the province to date.
