Albay: Some local government units (LGUs) in Albay province have suspended face-to-face classes at all levels from Wednesday to Friday due to the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan, internationally known as Fung-wong.
According to Philippines News Agency, the mayors of Tiwi, Polangui, Libon, and Legazpi City have instructed all teaching and non-teaching staff to report to work and prepare classrooms to ensure the safety of students. Polangui Mayor Jesciel Richard Salceda announced that, following consultations with school heads, the municipality would implement modular learning starting November 12 in response to the typhoon’s effects.
Additionally, classes have been suspended in Bacacay and Tabaco City due to ongoing power, water, and communication outages. In a separate advisory, Tabaco City Mayor Rey Bragais stated that face-to-face classes are suspended because of the lack of water and power supply, and schools may opt for modular instruction until Friday.
The municipalities of Pioduran, Malinao, and Camalig have left the decision to resume classes to the discretion of school heads. Face-to-face classes in some of these municipalities and cities are expected to resume on November 17.
