FBM KLCI Futures Higher In Early Trade

FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures were higher in the early session on Friday, tracking the underlying cash market. At 9.40 am, the September 2024, October 2024 and December 2024 contracts rose 7.5 points to 1,671.5, 1,674.0, and 1,679.0, respectively, while March 2025 advanced 6.0 points to 1,663.5. Hike in HFCS import clearance fee seen to curb use of artificial sugar

The substantial increase in the import clearance fee for high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is seen to limit the use of artificial sweeteners in the country. In a statement released here on Friday, Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) chief Pablo Luis Azcona said the raise from PHP1.50 to PHP30 per equivalent bag of sugar was unanimously passed by the Sugar Board last month and forms part of Sugar Order (SO) 4. Comelec: Party-lists allowed to run in 2025 polls out next week

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking to release by next week the names of party-list organizations that would be allowed to participate in the May 2025 polls. Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia said Friday that all pending cases need to be resolved first before the poll body can release the list. “Once we are able to resolve everything by Monday, we can release the list by Friday next week at the most,” he said in a radio interview. Global economic growth decelerates to 2.9% in 2024-2025

Bursa Malaysia Ends Higher In Line With Most Regional Markets

Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Friday in line with most Asian markets, mirroring gains from Wall Street, where investors welcomed the US Federal Reserve’s substantial interest rate cut. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose by 3.17 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 1,668.82 at the close from Thursday’s close of 1,665.65.
