Bacolod property owner cleared in tax evasion raps

Manila: The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has acquitted the owner of two properties in Bacolod City which yielded unregistered cigarettes and cigarette manufacturing equipment during 2017 raid. The tax court decision dated Sept. 23 cleared Alman Gayatin, the registered owner of Alter Trade and Villa Socorro in Bacolod, which was leased by Chinese individuals led by a certain Jimmy Chua to put out cigarettes illegally. Among the items seized from the premises were a cigarette maker machine, 783 cases each containing 50 reams of 10 packs of cigarette, 26 cases of loose cigarette finished products, and 2.5 million pieces

DOJ honors employees, retirees for milestones in public service

Manila: Justice Secretary Jesus Remulla has recognized employees and retirees who have faithfully served the government under the Department of Justice (DOJ) during its 127th founding anniversary. A total of 63 employees and personnel have been given loyalty awards for rendering the DOJ a service length of 10 years and every five years thereafter. Ten of them served the DOJ for 40 years. Most Northern Region Members Have Insufficient Basic Savings, Low Shariah Savings – EPF

GEORGE TOWN, The majority of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) members in the Northern Region, covering the states of Perlis, Penang, Kedah and Perak, were found to not have sufficient basic savings of at least RM240,000 at the age of 55.
