India’s easing of ban on non-basmati rice to soften world rice prices
Manila: The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Monday said that India’s lifting of its export ban on non-basmati rice may help soften global price pressures. ‘We hope that (the) world price of rice will go down a bit,’ DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said in a text message. On Sept. 28, the government of India ordered the export floor price of non-basmati white rice to be USD490 per metric ton.
