Gov’t To Adopt NDI Concept As New Basis For Aid Distribution

PUTRAJAYA, The government will shift to a more meaningful measurement of poverty based on the concept of Net Disposable Income (NDI) as the basis for identifying target groups for aid distribution, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Bursa Malaysia Opens Lower Amid Wall Street’s Record Gains

KUALA LUMPUR, Bursa Malaysia opened marginally lower on Monday as some investors engaged in profit-taking, reflecting cautious sentiment across regional markets, despite last week’s record gains on Wall Street, according to an analyst. At 9.15 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 0.67 of-a-point to 1,659.42, down from last Friday’s close of 1,660.09. The benchmark index had initially opened 1.80 points higher at 1,661.89. Across the broader market, decliners slightly outnumbered advancers, with 258 stocks declining compared to 219 advancing. There were 304 counters unchanged, 1,701 untraded and 79 suspended. Turnover totalled 263.49 million units, valued at RM149.81

Over 3K cops to secure COC filing in W. Visayas

ILOILO CITY – A total of 3,265 cops from the various units of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) will provide security during the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) from Oct. 1 to 8 in preparation for the 2025 national and local elections. Less than P1 oil price hike set Oct. 1

Manila: Oil firms will increase pump prices at the start of October. In separate advisories, Caltex, Cleanfuel, Jetti, Petro Gazz, Seaoil, and Shell announced that they will hike gasoline and diesel prices by PHP0.45 and PHP0.90 per liter. Caltex, Seaoil, and Shell will also increase kerosene prices by PHP0.30 per liter. Last week, oil companies implemented a PHP1.20 per liter increase for gasoline and PHP0.20 per liter hike for diesel, while there was no adjustment on kerosene prices. With the recent price movement, year-to-date prices of gasoline and diesel had a net increase of PHP5.85 and PHP1.95 per liter, respectively.
