Bursa Malaysia Opens Lower On Mild Selling In Key Sectors

KUALA LUMPUR, Bursa Malaysia opened lower today, extending yesterday’s losses amid mild selling in plantation, consumer products and services counters, according to an analyst. At 9.15 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 2.91 points to 1,646.0, down from Monday’s close of 1,648.91. The benchmark index had initially opened 1.49 points lower at 1,647.42. Across the broader market, decliners slightly outpaced advancers, with 221 stocks declining versus 194 advancing. There were 307 counters unchanged, 1,697 untraded, and six suspended. PNP anti-drug unit seizes nearly P800-M narcotics in Sept.

Manila: Operatives of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) confiscated almost PHP800 million worth of illegal drugs in September. In a statement Tuesday, PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said these narcotics were seized in 57 anti-drug operations, comprising 38 buy-busts, four search warrant operations, one marijuana eradication operation, and 13 service warrants of arrest. He said these operations resulted in the arrest of 77 drug personalities. Umrah Travel Companies In Hot Soup Over Cartel Behaviour

KUALA LUMPUR, Eighty-one Umrah travel companies face possible penalties from the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) over price-fixing. They are suspected of being involved in a price-fixing agreement to provide Umrah travel services in Malaysia starting in 2023. In this regard, MyCC has issued a proposed decision against the 81 companies.
