Loreto: The local government of Loreto, Dinagat Islands marked the 82nd anniversary of the “Battle of San Juan” on Thursday, commemorating the courage of local defenders during World War II. According to Philippines News Agency, the battle took place on Oct. 31, 1942, in Loreto’s coastal village of San Juan, where US Army defenders and Filipino guerrillas faced invading Japanese forces. Cebu: Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia on Friday said elderly citizens here will receive maintenance medication starting January 2025. DIGOS: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 in the Davao Region has announced a significant interception of smuggled cigarettes, involving 308 master cases with an estimated value of PHP4.6 million. The seizures occurred in two separate operations conducted on October 29 and 30 in Digos City, Davao del Sur. According to Philippines News Agency, on October 30, officers from the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 11 seized 267 cases of suspected smuggled cigarettes. 7 NPA Rebels Surrender in Caraga Through Police Negotiations.

Caraga: Seven New People’s Army (NPA) members surrendered to the Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) on Oct. 30 following negotiations led by police units across the region, the office reported Friday. Among those who surrendered was a 27-year-old rebel, identified only as Alias Dems, a member of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) Sikop of the NPA’s North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).
