Manila: A model family from Central Visayas was awarded the best audio-visual presentation on its experience as a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) during the recent 4Ps National Family Congress in Manila.

According to Philippines News Agency, Tonyson Luther Lee, assistant regional director for administration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Central Visayas, announced that the Fortuito family of Sibulan, Negros Oriental secured the Best Salaysay ng Buhay Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) award. The Fortuito family showcased how its strong family ties have positively impacted communities amidst challenges posed by poverty.

The recognition was applauded by Lee, who expressed pride on behalf of the DSWD-7 regional field office and the 75,000 4Ps beneficiaries they represent. The Fortuito family also holds the title of Central Visayas’ Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya 2024 winner. They represented the region’s 4Ps families at the national congress held in Manila from
October 27 to 30.

This congress coincided with the 4Ps’ annual celebration of National Family Week, which honors model families who uphold values despite facing adversities. DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian presented awards to 16 Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya regional winners, including the Fortuito family, each receiving a plaque and a cash incentive of PHP10,000.

The 4Ps is recognized as the government’s principal poverty alleviation program, focusing on the health, nutrition, and education of impoverished households. The program also includes psychosocial and educational components through Family Development Sessions, aimed at improving and sustaining the well-being of beneficiaries. The 4Ps was institutionalized by Republic Act 11310, known as the 4Ps Act, in 2019.
