Dagupan: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has retrieved the body of one of the five occupants of a vehicle that plunged into the Tarlac River following the partial collapse of Agana Bridge in Tarlac City on Saturday. In a statement on Tuesday, the PCG said the body was recovered in the waters off Barangay Pugaro, Dagupan City, Pangasinan on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nataniel Dizon, 20, was the lone survivor of the incident, while three others remain missing. At around noon Sunday, the PCG Station Dagupan received a report of a floating cadaver sighted by a motorbanca operator off Barangay Pugaro. The PCG immediately deployed a response team to verify the report and conduct retrieval operations.

PCG responders confirmed the sighting and retrieved the body, which was subsequently transported to Barangay Poblacion Oeste and turned over to Dagupan City Police Station 5 for proper disposition. Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap later confirmed that the recovered individual was one of the victims of the Agana Bridge incident.

Search and rescue operations continue for the remaining missing individuals, with response teams searching the Tarlac River and downstream areas in coordination with concerned authorities. The PCG said responders had searched approximately 35 kms. of the Tarlac River from Barangay Aguso toward Ablang River in Paniqui, Tarlac, as of 6 p.m. on Monday. Search teams also extended their operations toward Ablang Bridge and Paniqui Bridge but yielded negative results.
