‘Big Names’ in Case of Sabungeros Won’t Escape Justice

Malaca±ang: Malaca±ang on Thursday assured the public that no one, regardless of social status or influence, could evade accountability in the case of the missing "sabungeros" (cockfight aficionados). The assurance came after Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said whistleblower Dondon Patidongan informed authorities that fugitive businessman Charlie 'Atong' Ang may be hiding in Cambodia under a false identity.

According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the government has been monitoring the issue of the missing sabungeros for a long time. She affirmed that the administration is dedicated to ensuring justice, especially when high-profile individuals are implicated in such crimes.

In a Palace press briefing, Castro said, 'So, kung ito po nangyayari ngayon na isang malaking tao ay nasasangkot sa ganitong klaseng karumal-dumal na krimen, hindi po papabayaan ng gobyerno na hindi managot ang mga taong dapat managot sa hustisya (If now a prominent individual is involved in this kind of heinous crime, the government will not allow those responsible to evade justice).'

Ang is currently facing multiple arrest warrants related to the alleged disappearance and deaths of several sabungeros. In response to these developments, the Philippine National Police has heightened the monitoring of all exit ports to prevent Ang from leaving the country after an arrest warrant was issued against him.
