Antique: The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) is aiming for a repeat of last year’s success with zero major incidents during the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day observance. APPO Information Officer Lt. Col. Willy Diel reported that the provincial police force, led by Director Col. Lea Rose Peña, has been actively monitoring the 52 cemeteries in Antique, with no significant untoward incidents reported.

According to Philippines News Agency, Lt. Col. Diel highlighted that the 1,000 police personnel were deployed early to their designated cemeteries to establish Police Assistance Desks (PADs) and ensure a peaceful and orderly observance. The traffic congestion on roads leading to the cemeteries is being effectively managed by the police, with assistance from barangay officials and traffic enforcers.

Furthermore, personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Public Works and Highways, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), and the Municipal DRRMO are providing addi
tional support to the police efforts.

Meanwhile, Susan Luces, a 64-year-old resident, was among the first visitors to the Egaña Public Cemetery in Barangay Egaña, Sibalom town. She shared in an interview that she had set aside time to honor her late husband and parents by visiting their tombs. Luces expressed her desire to keep their memory alive and intends to have their tombs blessed by a Roman Catholic priest, praying for their eternal rest.
