Antique: Local government units in Antique will be adopting delegations for the upcoming Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet as part of their support for the province’s hosting of the sports event.
According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Evelyn Remo, Chief Education Supervisor of the Department of Education Schools Division of Antique, stated in an interview that during a meeting on February 4 with the provincial government, LGUs, and other stakeholders, a request was made for LGUs to adopt delegations. Remo mentioned that three LGUs will host a delegation by organizing a welcome party and providing assistance.
Six delegations from Western Visayas, including Antique, will participate in the WVRAA, with each group consisting of 700 to 900 officials and athletes set to arrive on February 25. Despite being part of the Negros Island Region, Negros Occidental will join the event, scheduled from March 1 to 8, alongside Iloilo, Aklan, Guimaras, and Capiz.
The Antique Provincial Police Office has been asked to ensure security and traffic management, while stakeholders and communities are encouraged to maintain cleanliness in host municipalities. The playing venues and billeting areas are in San Jose de Buenavista, Sibalom, Belison, and Hamtic.
Additionally, Remo suggested decorating roadsides with flags and festive d©cor to welcome athletes.
