Antique: Governor Paolo Everardo Javier committed to sustaining the Provincial Electric Power Subsidy (PEPS) until 2026, benefitting 23,000 Antique residents. Javier said in an interview on Tuesday that the subsidy provided relief to consumers in the province when they availed of the PHP500 discount from their monthly bill.
According to Philippines News Agency, Javier mentioned that there is already a budget for the PEPS until December this year, but he has lobbied for the power subsidy to continue until next year. He said the power subsidy is included in the 2026 proposed budget, which is currently being deliberated by the provincial board.
PEPS is one of the campaign promises of Javier during the May 2025 election, which he realized within his first 100 days in office. It was implemented starting in August. The initiative sourced its funds from the province’s national wealth share.
