Manila: Higher ancillary services (AS) rates raised transmission rates of power consumers for November, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Tuesday. AS rates, pass-through expenses for power supplied by power generators, rose by PHP0.0997 per kilowatt hour (kWh), or from PHP0.6546 to PHP0.7542.
According to Philippines News Agency, NGCP head of regulatory management Julius Ryan Datingaling stated in a briefing that the transmission wheeling rate, or the fee for delivering power through the grid, also increased by PHP0.0034/kWh and is now at PHP0.5953/kWh from PHP1.5105/kWh. ‘The increase in rates generally is due to the ancillary service reserve,’ noted Datingaling, citing the impact of higher oil prices as a contributing factor.
On Monday, the Manila Electric Company reported a rate uptick for November due to higher transmission rates. The power rate this month will be PHP13.4702/kWh from PHP13.3182/kWh in October.
