Legazpi City:Parts of Albay province will undergo a 12-hour power interruption on Thursday due to transmission line reconfiguration by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and distribution line improvements by the Albay Electric Cooperative Inc. (Aleco).
According to Philippines News Agency, the power interruption is scheduled from 630 a.m. to 630 p.m. to facilitate the reconfiguration of the tapping pole for the new Aleco Cullat Load-end Substation. This activity necessitates the shutdown of the Daraga-Sto. Domingo 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, impacting the Salvacion Load-end Substation and Sta. Misericordia Feeders 1 and 2.
Anj Galero, Aleco's information officer, stated that the affected areas include portions of Bacacay and Sto. Domingo, as well as island villages in Albay's First District. Aleco has also planned separate power interruptions on the same day for distribution line improvements and maintenance.
Under the Washington Feeder 3 schedule, brief power interruptions are set from 8 a.m. to 830 a.m. and 430 p.m. to 5 p.m. in parts of Legazpi City and Daraga. In Legazpi City, barangays Taysan, Mariawa, Maslog, Homapon, Bagacay, and a portion of Banquerohan will be affected. In Daraga, the affected barangays include Canarom, Mayon, San Ramon, Villahermosa, Bigao, San Rafael, Nabasan, San Vicente Grande, and Ibaugan.
Additionally, Aleco scheduled an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. power interruption in portions of Banquerohan, Imalnod, Bagacay, Cagbacong, San Francisco, and Buenavista in Legazpi City, as well as the entire coverage area of Manito. This interruption is to continue the distribution line restoration work, including converting single-phase lines to three-phase lines from Barangay Banquerohan in Legazpi City to Barangay Cawayan in Manito.
Another scheduled interruption will occur on Ligao Feeder 1 on October 29 and November 3, affecting 31 villages in Ligao, 20 in Oas, and two in Jovellar and Pio Duran, in Albay's Third district, for distribution line enhancement. NGCP has assured efforts to restore power earlier than scheduled or within the announced timeframe.
