Metro manila: Nearly three out of four Metro Manila residents have used ride-hailing apps in the past three months, with users booking trips an average of three times a week, according to data from ride-hailing platform inDrive.

According to Philippines News Agency, in a statement on Monday, inDrive Philippines country manager Sofia Guinto emphasized the need for mobility providers to align with passenger demands as an increasing number of Filipinos depend on ride-hailing apps for their daily commutes. She stated, "By providing consistently available, convenient, and safe rides, we hope to reach more Filipino passengers and prove that a ride booked on inDrive is a trip that is worth their time and budget."

The data highlighted that 74 percent of residents in the capital region now view ride-hailing apps as essential for navigating the metropolis. It also revealed that 56 percent of passengers resort to these apps when pressed for time, while 49 percent use them when adverse weather conditions affect travel plans. Additionally, commuters opt for ride-hailing services to travel comfortably at 32 percent, access areas with limited public transportation at 30 percent, and ensure safety while traveling late at night or in unfamiliar areas at 29 percent.

The demand for ride-hailing is significantly driven by trips from residences to key urban destinations such as malls, airports, and bus terminals. The study also discovered that 78 percent of Filipinos compare fares across multiple apps before booking, and 87 percent prioritize apps that enhance their feeling of safety while commuting.

Meanwhile, 73 percent of users prioritize ride quality over cost, seeking readily available rides, flexibility in booking, friendly drivers, and overall comfort. The firm reported a 155 percent surge in in-city ride requests in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year, alongside an expansion of its active partner driver base to meet the rising demand.
