Bacoor: Seventy-four families in Bacoor, Cavite, have received land titles on Thursday after nearly 25 years of waiting, giving them greater security of tenure over the homes they occupy. The Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) distributed 74 Transfer Certificates of Title to beneficiaries in Barangay Salinas I, the SHFC said in a news release on Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa led the distribution with DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, Cavite 2nd District Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla, and Bacoor City Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola. The recipients are members of the Bayanihan HOA of Salinas Bacoor Inc. and Salinas HOA I Phase II. They are beneficiaries of SHFC's Community Mortgage Program, one of the corporation's major initiatives under the administration's Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
Despite the rain, Laxa assured the families they would receive proof of ownership for the land where their homes stand. Bayanihan HOA President Ruelito Garcia and Salinas HOA I Phase II Assistant Secretary Elvira Leysa expressed their gratitude to the government agencies for securing the titles, which provide greater certainty for their families' continued occupancy. Garcia noted the significance of this moment for the community, highlighting the hard work and challenges faced over the past 25 years.
