5,000 Overseas Filipinos Enroll for Internet Voting in May Midterm Elections

Manila: Some 5,000 Filipinos based abroad have enrolled in the online voting and counting system (OVCS) to be used in the May 12 midterm polls. This development comes as the enrolment period for internet voting for overseas voters commenced on March 20.

According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia expressed optimism about the enrolment process in an interview before the escrow deposit of May 2025 Election Source Codes at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in Manila. Garcia stated, “There will be more enrolling in the coming weeks. It’s good that the enrollment has been quick and easy.”

The enrolment period for the OVCS will continue until May 7. Garcia also encouraged voters who have already enrolled to become familiar with the OVCS to ensure a smooth voting process. “At least, come the voting period, the internet voting system will no longer be foreign to them,” he added.

Filipinos abroad who wish to participate in internet voting can enroll through the official website, https://ov.comelec.gov.ph/enroll. The overseas voting period will start on April 13 and end on May 12. Overseas voters are eligible to vote for national candidates, including 12 senators and one party-list group.
