42 Arrested, PHP1.6-M Shabu Seized in Caraga Anti-Crime Operations

Caraga: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) arrested 42 suspects during the Sept. 11 to 14 Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) conducted by police field units in the region, an official said Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, authorities also confiscated shabu worth PHP1,638,804.76 during the period, PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV stated in a statement. Of the total suspects arrested, 10 were considered high-value individuals while 32 were classified as street-level offenders. On Sept. 14, eight suspects were arrested, yielding 29.88 grams of shabu valued at PHP172,284, the PRO-13 chief added.

The arrested suspects are facing charges for violating the provisions of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Magistrado emphasized the importance of the community’s role, stating, “These accomplishments are the result of our relentless efforts and close collaboration with the community. We will step up our campaign to save and protect the people from the scourge of illegal drugs.”

Meanwhile, the PRO-13 also reported the arrest of 10 suspects for illegal logging during the four-day SACLEO in Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, and Dinagat Islands. Seized from the suspects were 4,616.76 board feet of illegally gathered assorted forest products worth PHP96,700. Charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 705 are being prepared against the suspects.
