Para±aque City: A total of 3,300 job vacancies are available at the 5th job fair for displaced internet gaming licensees (IGLs) workers set in Para±aque City on Feb. 28. In a statement Thursday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the job fair dubbed as ‘Project DAPAT: A Special DOLE Action Plan and Transition Job Fair for Displaced IGL Workers’ will be held at the Activity Center, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Barangay Tambo. A total of 24 participating employers are ready to connect with job seekers.
According to Philippines News Agency, the participating companies will come from industries including manufacturing, food service, business process outsourcing (BPO), hospitality and entertainment, and information technology (IT). The job fair aims to support displaced workers of IGLs, formerly known as Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), by connecting them with employment opportunities across various sectors in Metro Manila.
Moreover, the job fair will also feature one-stop-shop services to help jobseekers complete necessary pre-employment requirements. Applicants are advised to bring copies of their resumes and other pre-employment documents. For a faster application process, job applicants are encouraged to pre-register via the link provided by DOLE.
In a separate development, the city of Manila will be providing free services to residents of its fifth district. Mayor Honey Lacuna invited Manile±os to avail of the extensive free services that will be offered as her flagship service program, “Kalinga sa Maynila: City hall on the go” goes to San Andres Bukid in Malate, Manila. The program will be held from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday along Mabuhay Street in Barangay 782.
The services available include health and social welfare assistance; applications for new, replacement, or renewal of senior citizens’ IDs, solo parents, and persons with disability IDs, civil registry, provision of jobs, medical check-ups, and care for pet animals such as vaccination. Additional free services include dental extraction/fluoride services, reading glasses, medicines, massage, haircut, and even Technical Education and Skills Development Authority training.
“The services of Manila City Hall are now more accessible to everyone through our Kalinga sa Manila: City Hall on the Go. This is free and open to all. So come on and I’ll see you on Friday!,” Mayor Lacuna stated. Earlier, the same service fair was held at the corner of Benita and Fernandez Streets in Tondo’s second district.
