Manila: Around 32 teams of engineers, line workers, and clearing crews from electric cooperatives (ECs) across eight regions are actively engaged in efforts to restore power in the heavily impacted provinces of Luzon following the devastation of Super Typhoon Uwan.
According to Philippines News Agency, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) announced in a Tuesday press release that these teams are deployed across the provinces of Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Catanduanes as part of Task Force Kapatid (Brotherhood), a collaborative program where ECs provide mutual assistance.
The NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department reported on Tuesday that eight electric cooperatives in Luzon are currently without power interruptions due to the typhoon, impacting a total of 3,388,716 households. The cooperatives affected include Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative Inc., Quirino Electric Cooperative Inc., Ifugao Electric Cooperative Inc., Mountain Province Electric Cooperative Inc., Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative Inc., and Camarines Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. I, III, and IV.
Out of 60 other ECs being monitored across 39 provinces, 43 are experiencing partial outages, while nine have successfully resumed normal operations.
