Manila: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported a total of 220 arrests over a 24-hour period from 6 a.m. of August 19 to 5:59 a.m. of August 20.
According to Philippines News Agency, these arrests are part of the NCRPO’s ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal activities, including drugs, gambling, and violations of local ordinances. NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin stated that the operations reflect the agency’s commitment to aggressive enforcement to maintain law and order in Metro Manila.
The report detailed that 45 individuals were apprehended for drug-related offenses, while 44 were arrested for participating in illegal gambling activities. Moreover, the operations led to the capture of 61 wanted persons, which included individuals listed among the Top 10 Most Wanted, Most Wanted, and Other Wanted Persons. In addition, three suspects were taken into custody for offenses involving loose firearms.
The NCRPO also highlighted the arrest of 67 additional offenders through immediate police response and for various other violations. Maj. Gen. Aberin emphasized the dedication of law enforcement units across Metro Manila in intensifying operations to address both high-profile targets and street-level crimes efficiently.
