Catbalogan city: The Samar Provincial Hospital in Catbalogan City, Samar has announced it is currently operating beyond its capacity due to a surge in the number of patients seeking medical care. In an advisory issued on Thursday, the hospital reported that all its 100 regular beds are fully occupied, with a total of 275 patients now being attended to – nearly three times its intended capacity. According to Philippines News Agency, hospital management assured the public that doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers are doing their best to provide adequate care for all patients despite the overcrowding and limited space.

Manila: The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) announced on Thursday it has inked a knowledge sharing agreement with the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP) to harness space-enabled geospatial application. The agreement, signed last Oct. 7, seeks to enhance the use of space science and technology applications and geospatial tools in support of disaster risk reduction and management, environmental protection, agricultural monitoring, and sustainable land and resource management. Manila: The government is addressing the need to increase power supply by reducing the volume of trash and has set a special green energy auction (GEA) on waste-to-energy (WTE) projects in January next year. Department of Energy (DOE), in a press release Thursday, said the waste for the initial projects will be sourced from Metro Manila and in highly urbanized cities (HUCs), with the auction seen to be completed by the last quarter of 2027.
