DENR Shuts Down Illegal Resorts in Protected Marikina Watershed
Manila: The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has recently enforced the closure of three resorts operating without proper permits within the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape (UMRBPL). This action is aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the protected area. According to Philippines News Agency, the DENR issued a cease and desist order (CDO) to Danum Baker Resort, Erin’s Place, and Lihim na Batis, all located in Baras, Rizal. These three resorts were among nine establishments previously served with either a CDO or a Show Cause Order (SCO) for operating within the protected landscape without the necessary permits.
