Lawmaker Proposes Bill for Mandatory Solar Energy in Government Buildings
Manila: Abra lone district Rep. Joseph Sto. Ni±o Bernos has introduced a bill aiming to mandate the use of solar energy systems in government offices. This initiative seeks to reduce electricity expenses and promote a sustainable approach to public service delivery. According to Philippines News Agency, House Bill No. 3126, known as the On-Grid Solar Energy Systems bill, was filed on August 5. It requires national and local government-owned buildings and offices to implement on-grid solar energy systems. Within the first year of installation, these systems are expected to cover 20 percent of the government agencies’ average monthly utilization (AMU).
