Manila: The Supreme Court (SC) has clarified that businesses registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) are not completely exempt from paying value-added tax (VAT). In a decision made public on Monday, the SC Third Division partially granted Coral Bay Nickel Corporation’s claim for a VAT refund. According to Philippines News Agency, Coral Bay is a PEZA-registered company that manufactures and exports nickel and cobalt mixed sulfide. Teacher Slain in Lanao Sur Gun Attack

Lanao del sur: A 24-year-old teacher in Lanao del Sur was shot dead by an unidentified gunman on Monday morning, police reported. In his report to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Director Col. Caezar Cabuhat identified the victim as Danilo Barba, a dedicated teacher at Balabagan Trade School.
