Estrada Supports Urgent Reforms in Philippine National Police
Manila: Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada on Wednesday expressed support for newly-appointed Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III’s reform agenda, emphasizing the need for immediate improvements in the police force’s responsiveness and professionalism. According to Philippines News Agency, Estrada, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, praised Torre’s initial decisions, which demonstrate an understanding of the urgent changes required within the PNP. These include relieving officials who did not meet the five-minute police response time standard. Estrada noted that leadership is about guiding the institution in the right direction and making difficult decisions.
