Lawmakers to Dig Deeper on Curbing Misinformation

Manila: The House Tri Committee (Tri Comm) inquiry on misinformation will identify ways to stop disinformation on social media and protect the rights of individuals to express themselves, a House leader said Monday. House Assistant Minority Leader and Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre stated that the inquiry on Tuesday will dig deeper into how Congress can address disinformation on social media. According to Philippines News Agency, the Tri Comm, comprised of the Committees on Public Order and Safety, the Information and Communications Technology, and the Public Information, is intensifying its investigation into the spread of disinformation and fake news online.

Bicol Cops Seize P1.2-M Illegal Drugs, Nab 29 in Weeklong Operations

Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has confiscated PHP1.27 million worth of illegal drugs during weeklong operations from March 31 to April 6. A total of 22 operations were conducted across various parts of Bicol, resulting in the arrest of 29 individuals, including three high-value targets and 26 street-level individuals involved in illegal drug activities.
