In his speech during the resumption of session, House of Representatives Speaker Martin Romualdez stated that the national budget for next year would allocate funds for a strategic shift from traditional flood control to comprehensive water management. This includes water impounding systems designed to harvest rainwater, mitigate flooding, and ensure water availability during the dry season. LAOAG CITY: About PHP7.8 million worth of aid under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program has been extended to some 1,555 typhoon-hit beneficiaries in Ilocos Norte. Under the DSWD AICS program, typhoon-hit recipients are given PHP5,000 cash aid and family food packs to help them recover from economic slump due to typhoon. The DWSD-Ilocos Region also provided 6,302 food and non-food items to local government units (LGUs) in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union. Majority of the recipients include families with partially damaged houses and those affected by flooding.

TACLOBAN CITY: The Department of Health (DOH) is seeking accurate monitoring of suicide incidents in Eastern Visayas to help authorities develop effective mental health programs, interventions, and resource allocation. DOH-Eastern Visayas regional information officer Jelyn Lopez-Malibago said the DOH and the Philippine National Police (PNP) agreed to synchronize data sharing between health facilities and police stations. According to Philippines News Agency, accurate reporting is needed as current data collection on suicide cases in Eastern Visayas is fragmented, as health facilities and police stations often operate independently, leading to inconsistencies and gaps in reporting, Malibago said in a phone interview Monday.
